Long Bridge Medical Completes Successful First-In-Human Implantation of LensOne™ Device at Sydney Eye Hospital
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – May 31, 2023 – Long Bridge Medical, Inc. completed the successful first-in-human implantation of the LensOne™ Prosthetic Capsule, at Sydney Eye Hospital. The procedure was completed by vitreoretinal surgeon Matthew Simunovic, MD.
The LensOne™ Prosthetic Capsule is designed to enable stable, centered intraocular lens (IOL) fixation in patients without adequate capsular support. By recreating the structure and function of the native capsular bag, LensOne™ provides a planar and physiologic platform for IOL implantation using familiar surgical techniques.
The inaugural procedure marks a significant milestone in the clinical development of LensOne™ and represents the first step toward addressing longstanding challenges in the management of aphakia in complex surgical settings.
Dr. Simunovic, who performed the procedure at Sydney Eye Hospital, is a vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive experience in complex anterior and posterior segment surgery.
